GoFileDrops help

A good place to start.

Set up your first drop, understand a receipt, or get a hand with your account.

Your first drop

  1. Sign in with your Google account.
  2. Connect Google Drive in account settings, then choose a destination folder.
  3. Create a drop. Add a title, your branding and the fields you need.
  4. Preview the form and publish it.
  5. Copy the link and share it with the person sending you files.

Receiving files

Senders open your link, enter the requested details and choose their files. They can upload from their device without an account, or connect their own Google Drive to select files.

After submission, they receive an on-screen receipt. Open your inbox to see the answers, attachments and Drive delivery status. The form answers are also saved in a separate file with the uploaded files.

Put a drop on your website

Open the drop’s sharing panel and copy the embed code. Paste it into an HTML embed block on your website. Choose a full or compact layout, and allow your website’s origin in the drop settings.

Test the embedded form on desktop and mobile before sharing it with visitors.

Send files with a link

Open Send files, select local files or files from Google Drive, and add an optional title and message. When the files are ready, copy the download link.

Set the link’s expiry. You can find it again in Sent and revoke access when you no longer need it.

Common questions

Does the sender need a Google account?

No. Anyone with your drop link can upload files from their device using a browser. Google sign-in is needed only if they choose files from their own Google Drive.

Can I collect information alongside files?

Yes. Add fields for names, email addresses, messages and the details your work needs. Files and form answers belong to the same submission.

Where do the files go?

Each submission appears in your private inbox. The files and a separate file containing the form answers are then delivered to the Google Drive folder chosen for that drop.

Can I put a drop on my website?

Yes. Share a dedicated upload link or use the embed code for a full or compact upload form on your website.

Can uploaders see my Google Drive?

No. Your public drop accepts submissions; it does not give uploaders access to your inbox or your Google Drive.

Can I send files too?

Yes. Create a share link for files from your device or Google Drive. Recipients can download without creating an account. The new app also supports expiry and revocation of share links.

How do I change the destination folder?

In the new app, choose a destination folder in the drop’s settings. Use a different drop for each destination; there is no need to edit a URL or add folder names by hand.

What does “received” mean?

Received means GoFileDrops has accepted the submission. It does not mean Drive delivery is complete. Check the delivery status in your inbox for confirmation.

What if Google Drive needs reconnecting?

Open your account settings and reconnect Google Drive. If a submission still needs attention, review its delivery details and contact support with the receipt reference.

How do I cancel a current subscription?

Email mail@gofiledrops.com with your account details and cancellation request. The current service lists this as the cancellation route.

Is there an older user manual?

Yes. The previous-version PDF is available below. Its screenshots and setup instructions describe the older app; use this guide for the new workflow.

Let’s get it sorted.

Email us with the problem, your browser and a receipt reference if you have one. Please leave passwords and private files out of your message.
